Pittsburgh Pirates starter Jim Parque was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-1. Parque, the winner, moves to 8-8. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Hector Trinidad earned the save for Pittsburgh, his 1st of the year.

Pittsburgh relied on the hitting of Melvin Mora to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pirates on top, 4-1. For the game, Mora had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
