Rodriguez Helps Rockies Defeat Padres, 9-5
Led by 23-year-old Alex Rodriguez, the Colorado Rockies downed the San Diego Padres, 9-5. Rodriguez went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Colorado. Kevin Millwood picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-2. He struck out 6 in 6 innings. Pete Smith picked up his 1st save of the season.

Center Fielder Peter Bergeron made an impact for Colorado, when he swatted a bases-clearing double off Jason Bere in the top of the third. For the contest, Bergeron was 1-5 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

"I put some good swings on the ball tonight," said Rodriguez.
