The Houston Astros beat the Cincinnati Reds, 9-4, at Astrodome. Houston third baseman Corey Koskie had an outstanding performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. With the win, the Astros improved to 102-57.

Kenny Lofton was 1 for 4 with a walk. He scored 2 runs for Houston. The speedster had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Jaret Wright. It was his 52nd RBI of the season.
