Orlando Hernandez never let Milwaukee get something going. The San Francisco right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Giants to a 2-1 win. Rod Beck finished the game for San Francisco and earned his 26th save. The third-place Giants improved to 56-67.

"I'm happy we won," said Hernandez. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
