Good production from first baseman Jeff Bagwell helped the Texas Rangers topple the New York Yankees, 12-8. Bagwell went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3 for the Rangers. Texas goes to 73-53. The win puts them 2½ games up in their division.

Bagwell contributed in the bottom of the first. With a runner on 3rd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Texas get the win.

"If you were looking for a pitchers' duel," said Bagwell, "this wasn't it."
