The New York Yankees picked up a win at The Ballpark in Arlington, knocking off the Texas Rangers, 6-4. On the mound for New York was left-hander Kenny Rogers. He played a key role in the triumph. After today's action, New York sits at 87-39; Texas slips to 74-54.

New York used a well-timed hit by Gary Sheffield to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Yankees ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Sheffield, "one at-bat at a time."
