Twins Capture 6-2 Win at Tropicana Field
|
Minnesota Twins pitcher Mike Mussina whisked his team past the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 6-2. Mussina, who is on pace for 209 strikeouts this season, went the distance for Minnesota. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. Minnesota's record now stands at 75-62, placing them second in the AL Central Division.
Minnesota used the hitting of Kirby Puckett to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning to put the Twins on top, 5-0. For the game, Puckett had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"That's what I love about baseball," said Puckett. "No matter how good or how bad you did, you get to wake up the next day and start all over."
