Marlins Top Braves, 10-6
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Florida Marlins and Atlanta Braves came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Florida Marlins defeated the Atlanta Braves, 10-6, at Turner Field. Aaron Miles, who is tied for 8th in the NL in triples with 1, was a standout performer for Florida. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 3 he knocked in. Felix Heredia was called on to finish, recording his 6th save.
Adrian Beltre had a big 2-run double for the Marlins in the top of the fifth inning. With Florida leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from 34-year old left-handed pitcher Kent Mercker and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marlins ahead, 3-0.
"We've got a great group of guys," Beltre said, "and we're having fun right now."
Florida is now 12-5.
