Fans at Wrigley Field witnessed the Los Angeles Dodgers blank the Chicago Cubs, 5-0, on the strength of a superb effort from starter Jim Abbott. The Los Angeles left-hander allowed 4 hits in recording the shutout.

"Jim was good today, but I don't want to focus too much on a single game," Los Angeles manager Dan Gallows said. "If you're capable of playing at this level, you're capable of having a good game. The real question is if you can learn from that game and repeat it."
