Atlanta Triumphs with Late Surge
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Braves beat the Red Sox.

The Atlanta Braves besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Boston second baseman Jose Hernandez by beating the Red Sox, 7-4, at Turner Field. Hernandez went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2. The winner was Atlanta reliever John Rocker, now 1-0. The loser was Justin W. Thompson. Francisco Cordero collected save number 9.

Atlanta took a 6-4 lead on Casey Blake's 6th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Blake hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Boston pitcher Brian Fuentes visibly frustrated.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Blake told a Atlanta Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."

The 4th-place Braves now have a win-loss record of 26-40.
