Twins Absorb 6-2 Loss at Wrigley Field
|
The home team gave the crowd at Wrigley Field something to cheer about.
Chicago pitcher Bobby Jones did his part in helping his team defeat the Minnesota Twins, 6-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the left-hander. Chicago is now 31-34.
Dave Matranga's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 2-2. The Chicago shortstop hit a run-scoring single off Doug Davis to put the Cubs up.
Matranga told the Chicago Gazette: "Win or lose, I don't want to see our team outhustled."
