Milwaukee Brewers Star Shortstop Yount Enters Hall of Fame Wednesday, January 7th , 2004 One of the best players ever, shortstop Robin Yount, has received the ultimate honor for a baseball player -- being inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony, which was held today, included tributes from his former teammates. One of them recognized his unparalleled work ethic, another his "naturally pure" swing, and yet another, his love for the game. Yount received numerous awards during his playing days, but he said nothing can compare to being enshrined into the Hall of Fame. In a career spanning 2982 games, Yount batted .291 with 3378 hits, 254 home runs, 1492 RBIs and 1652 runs scored. He retired in 1994. He was elected to the Hall on his 5th try, with 77.7% of the vote. |
