Free Falling Mets Lose Again
|
The losses keep piling up for the New York Mets.
The Los Angeles Dodgers stopped the New York Mets, 7-2, at Shea Stadium. The Dodgers got a big game from Jeff Kent, who went 2 for 2 with a double, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Darren Oliver, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 8-5.
With Los Angeles leading 4-2 in the top of the fourth, Kent came up to bat against New York pitcher Butch Henry. Kent hit a changeup to right for a 2-run double. His 23rd double of the season put the Dodgers on top, 6-2.
New York manager Chris Foley, after yet another defeat, said: "We need to recalibrate."
Now 32-80, New York has dropped 13 games in a row.
