The Atlanta Braves knocked off the Cincinnati Reds, 7-2, in NL action at Cinergy Field. Atlanta pitcher and Warren, Michigan, native John Smoltz had an outstanding performance. With the win, the Braves improved to 62-71.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Casey Blake? The Atlanta third baseman had a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Braves on top, 5-2. For the game, Blake had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Blake.
