The Cleveland Indians picked up a win at Jacobs Field, knocking off the Anaheim Angels, 3-2. Starting pitcher Kelvim Escobar played a key role in the triumph. In 7.1 innings, Escobar surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 5. He allowed 2 runs. Trever Miller got the save, the 17th for him this season.
Benito Santiago, who is a three-time All-Star, helped out the Cleveland cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the catcher was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Anaheim manager Tom Thompson. "But we decided not to take it."
Today's win puts Cleveland at 53-80, while Anaheim falls to 75-59.
