Seattle turned a good effort from starter Pedro Astacio into a win over the Boston Red Sox at Safeco Field. The Mariners won the game, 6-0. The Mariners raised their record to 71-65.

Seattle third baseman Juan Uribe contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 123rd hit of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 2-0.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Astacio. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
