He held the Braves to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. San Diego is in third place in the NL West Division with a record of 67-80.
The Padres got a big at-bat from first baseman Fred McGriff. For the game, McGriff was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 24th double of the season gave San Diego a 3-2 lead.
