The Tampa Bay Devil Rays defeated the Anaheim Angels, 15-10, at Edison International Field. Tampa Bay was led by 27-year old second baseman Ray Durham, who belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5. The win puts Tampa Bay at 58-95.

Durham contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Tampa Bay in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Durham took a fastball from Al Leiter and stroked the home run to center. His 16th home run of the season allowed the Devil Rays to leap in front, 4-2.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Durham. "You've got to get results."
