Braves Earn 4-3 Win Versus Mets
The Atlanta Braves faced a tenacious opponent in New York pitcher Matt Clement, but still scratched out a win at Shea Stadium by a final score of 4-3 in 11 innings. Clement went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. LaTroy Hawkins came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-6. The losses continue to add up for New York, having now dropped 8 straight.

Atlanta won the game in part because of Marquis Grissom. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Braves ahead, 4-3. For the game, Grissom had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
