Devil Rays Get Hard-Earned Win
The Chicago White Sox got a sterling performance from designated hitter Gregg Jefferies, but the Tampa Bay Devil Rays still prevailed, 5-4. Jefferies went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Alan Embree picked up his 4th save of the season. Tampa Bay has now won 3 straight, while the White Sox have lost 4 in a row.

Tampa Bay took a 5-4 lead on Scott Hatteberg's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Hatteberg hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher Phil Leftwich visibly frustrated.

Hatteberg told the Tampa Bay Observer: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
